Thanks so much for all the information. We have booked our first night at the Hotel Parador De La Vina in the Colchagua Valley. We thought we would book the next two nights while in Chile depending on how far we travelled south, as our last 4 nights are already reserved at a timeshare north of Valparaiso. From your comments about December being a busy month in Chile, would you recommend us.

It deserves s higher rating on what we experienced today. The restaurant is sited in a nice corner position on Point Nepean road. It also looks inviting from the street.

Re: getting to the pier from Santiago. Hi! If the easiest way is a little pricy, you could take the airport transfer bus (the big blue bus) from the terminal building to Pajaritos Metro station. There you can catch a bus to Valparaiso bus station and from there a local taxi to the harbour.
