Generation VI ( Japanese : 第六 だいむ 世代 せだい , Hepburn : Dai Roku-sedai) is the sixth installment of the Pokémon franchise. It was first announced on January 8, 2013, with announcement of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. This generation started with Pokémon X and Y in 2013 and following with Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire in 2014.
